SUN Board calls for more volunteers
Due to family commitments, the Board has recently lost two members - Reg
Chapman, whose advice particularly on technical matters has been invaluable,
and our Deputy Chairman, Gill Williams. Both members, during their time
on the Board, were a considerable asset and their absence will be keenly felt.
We thank them for their hard work and dedication, and in recognition of this the
Board proposes to elect both as Honorary Life Members and will ask the AGM to
ratify this in November.
In the meantime, however, the Board is now very short of members: you will
recall that there were no nominations at last year's AGM to fill the vacancy
left by the departure of former Chairman Mike Peterson, and with the
resignations of Reg and Gill we are very close to our quorum level.
The Board is therefore asking for THREE VOLUNTEERS from the membership to
fill these vacancies. The duties are not onerous - the Board meets every other
month in members' homes, a
total of six meetings a year plus, of course, the AGM.
We hope that Board
members will support the Noggin'n'Natter evenings - and, indeed, most are
regular attendees - and also take an active part in the Litterblitz/Funday on
August Bank Holiday Sunday, although of course there cannot be any element of
compulsion about these activities.
Obviously, residence in the Christchurch/Bournemouth/Poole conurbation would
be an advantage, but is not really essential. If you are willing to take up one
of the vacancies, please write to the Secretary as soon as possible. Interest
from lady members would be particularly welcomed, as Sue now feels a bit
outnumbered! Don't let SUN wither the same as UKNA - that really would give our
opponents something to crow about, and would be the beginning of the end of
Studland nudist area.
