Studland is very popular
and arriving by car can be problematic
In essence...
Be very early or expect
a long wait or a long walk!

Best advice on visiting Studland by car
• Plan your trip so you arrive at Sandbanks by 9am at the latest and park there.
• Take the ferry as a foot passenger so you don't need to join the car queue either way.
• Walk to the nudist beach by following the shoreline or by using Heather Walk.

Driving from London, Southampton etc.
When the M27 finishes you'll find yourself on the A31 which takes you through the New Forrest to Ringwood (Road Map). About 3km after Ringwood you'll come to a roundabout with Bournemouth A338 signposted to the right. Take the A338 into Bournemouth, follow through the town to Westbourne and Canford Cliffs where you'll pick up the signs for Sandbanks.

Many miss the A338 to Bournemouth and stay on the A31 travelling on through St Lenoards, Ferndown and onto Poole where they double back. This is a longer route.

Driving from Poole or Bournemouth
Follow signs to Sandbanks where you can either park or get the Sandbanks Ferry.

Driving from Swanage or Wareham
A beautiful drive around Poole Harbour which avoids the need to use the Sandbanks Ferry.

Parking at Sandbanks
(avoids the car queue either way for the Sandbanks Ferry)
On busy days most free parking on the few roads at Sandbanks is taken by 9.30am (10 if you're lucky!). Street parking goes first, after which you'll have to keep your eyes open for signs on some residents drives which advertise parking for around £5 per day.

Parking on Ferry Road
Ferry road, which is owned by the Ferry Company, is very long and provides ample free parking. This is the favourite parking for many nudists who access the beach from Fire Point 6 (FP6). FP6 is on Ferry Road by the bus stop and there's a footpath (commonly called Footpath 6) that leads from there to the beach. If you arrive late on busy days convenient parking is taken and you can end up with a long walk from your car to FP6.
